Sisters From Around the World Gather
The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother (SSM) came together in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for a special event called "The Gathering" in March 2014. This year's theme was "Mission, Service and Being Sent."
Eighty Sisters and 12 SSM associates traveled from across the U.S./Caribbean Province to participate in the event, including Sisters from Trinidad, St. Lucia, Grenada, the Dominican Republic, New Jersey; Oklahoma; Kansas, and cities throughout Wisconsin.
"The Gathering" was an event designed for education, reflection, relaxation and celebrating talents and gifts expressed through ministries. Guest speaker Fr. Michael Crosby, OFM Cap, shared insights on the theme and renewal, and Sr. Patrice Colletti, SDS, offered a presentation on human trafficking.
Sisters and associates shared with one another the latest news and updates on their ministries. The event also featured many liturgical celebrations, including a "missioning experience" in which Sr. Helen Malolepsy, Provincial, thanked the Sisters for their work and sent them out to continue the SSM mission: "To participate in the mission of Jesus to bring fuller life to others by revealing the love of God for all, especially the poor."
